hey out there does anyone have any insight or experience in how long the numbness and tingling might last. It's more annoying than anything but curious, of all the various side effects this one seems to be hanging in there.

Peripheral neuropathy - damage to nerve endings most commonly associated with Taxol. Can be a nuisance and can get a bit worse than that. If you are still having treatment ask your oncology staff about how to minimise it. Soaking fingers (big messier for feet) in iced water helps some, Vitamin B helped mine a bit. If you have finished treatment, the time it takes to improve is very variable. See the thread on neuropathy for more advice. Good luck.

Hi cranky granny,
The sensation in my fingers returned a few months after stopping taxol. It was annoying and I kept dropping things .. the best part was I told the kids that I couldn't unpack the dishwasher without dropping something so they had to do it
My feet are still a problem 15 months post treatment. I feel very unbalanced some days and have to pay attention to walking up and down stairs. I find that I have to wear boots or runners to give me some stability. As its been so long now since treatment, I am assuming that this is as good as it gets and will learn to live with it, annoying as it is. xx

Good morning. Had third round of TC chemo on Monday (Thursday now). Have woken up today with a weird numb and tingling patch on the top of my left foot. Is this the beginning of peripheral neuropathy? Or something completely unrelated?! Sincerely hope it's the latter... If anyone out there can shed some light I'd be grateful.

I had the tingling just in my hands and that was bad enough pretty much settled about 9 months after finishing taxol, I went to the physio and put my hands in wax baths which helped a lot you can also use them for your feet with a podiatrist if they have it available. I found keeping them moving was the best thing, they started off really stiff in the morning but as I got moving I felt better. Hope this helps Margie.xx

Hi, I'm only on tamoxifen at the moment (had a lumpectomy & radiation) and I get that tingling in my feet each night as well. I mentioned it to my oncologist and she said it might be diabetes or caused by something else.

Tingling while on chemo (particularly taxol) is probably peripheral neuropathy - the severity can vary. Like @onemargie I found paraffin was treatments at my local pedicure place helpful - not a cure but alleviated symptoms. I also found taking Vitamin in B helped but check with your oncologist before taking any supplements. On tamoxifen, not so sure - could be related or unrelated, could be circulation.
